Minnesota Timberwolves Guard Shabazz Muhammad Needs Finger Surgery, is Out For the Year

The former UCLA Bruin will sit out the rest of the season

After a rocky start to his career that found Shabazz Muhammad spending more time in the D-League his rookie season than the NBA, the once hyped guard out of UCLA was finally making some headway this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In 38 games this year, Muhammad was averaging 13.5 points while shooting a pretty damn good 39 percent from 3-point land. He'd started to solidify himself as part of the Young Wolves (that's my rap name for them) new, youthful core as they begin to rebuild after losing Kevin Love in the offseason.

Sadly, like many of the 'Wolves talented players over the past few years, injuries have cut Muhammad's resurgence short. Yahoo Sports is reporting Muhammad will need surgery on his ailing middle finger, which will force him out of action for the remainder of the season.

This is a shame, since Muhammad was doing things like throwing down crazy alley-oops (seen above). It also means there is just one player left to carry on the Shabazz name in the NBA. God speed, Shabazz Napier. God speed.
