Kobe Bryant is a fierce competitor. He proved it for the 6,720,413th time yesterday when he got into it with Nick Young and then cursed out his Lakers teammates during practice. It's just who Kobe is—and he's been that way for a long, long, long time.

How long? Well, the Los Angeles Daily News just caught up with one of Kobe's old Lower Merion High School teammates David Lasman. And according to Lasman, Kobe used to talk trash about how he thought he could take Michael Jordan to the hole all the way back when he was 17.

"I remember Kobe saying, 'Michael Jordan can't stop me,'" Lasman told the Daily News. "'I'm not saying I can stop him. But he can't stop me.'"

It's not hard to believe that a 17-year-old would say something as stupid as that back in the 1990s when MJ was dominating. But it is kind of crazy to think about Kobe saying it and truly meaning it. And it's even crazier now that Kobe is on the verge of passing MJ on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
