Blake Griffin and Trevor Booker came thisclose to throwing punches during last night's preseason game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz. Following a hard foul by Booker on a fastbreak, a visibly upset Griffin immediately threw the ball behind his back and got in the Jazz forward's face. After both guys exchanged some words, BG grabbed Booker by the back of the neck.
Still, neither player let their fists fly and eventually, Griffin and Booker were separated before things got out of hand. Booker was given a flagrant-1 while both guys were hit with technicals.
When asked about retaliating, Blake told ESPN:
“I was going to, but then I thought, ‘It’s preseason.' It’s not worth it. That’s not the person I want to waste it on.”
Hmm. So, who would Blake be willing to catch a fine and/or suspension for? We may very well find out this upcoming season.
