Late last week, Blake Griffin announced that he was going to withdraw from Team USA Basketball camp in preparation for this summer's 2014 FIBA World Cup. Blake's reason for leaving was that he wanted to "dedicate all his energy on improving and preparing for the upcoming NBA season." At the time, it sounded like a poor excuse, but it seems like there was something much more important going on that wasn't being said. According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, Griffin was advised by doctors to sit out the tournament and rest in order to help heal a small fracture in his back which occurred during the 2014 NBA Playoffs.

If everything goes as planned, Griffin is expected to be ready by the start of the regular season.
