AMG cars of the past have been more sledgehammer than scalpel, but it seems the 2016 Mercedes AMG GT is going to take a stab at changing that. The company just released this new site and teaser trailer for its upcoming 911-rival.

We still know little about the car, however a few things can be picked out of the clip – mainly, that engine note. Many speculate that the AMG GT will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0L V8, and the exhaust tone from the clip seems to back up that assumption. Proportions also seem much smaller than the outgoing SLS – not Miata small, but compact nonetheless.

It’s also worth noting that Mercedes has exerted an extensive effort to share testing data and engineering input with the Mercedes AMG F1 team. Given how well they’re mopping up the 2014 season, we wonder what expertise they could roll into the car.
