Three UTEP Basketball Players Were Busted for Gambling

Three UTEP Basketball players were busted for gambling on athletic events at UTEP. There is no evidence of point shaving though so that's a good sign.

It's a bad day for NCAA college athletics. Three UTEP men's basketball players were dismissed from the program for gambling on athletic events. Luckily for the players and the NCAA, there is no evidence of point shaving or betting on Miners games.

Leading scorer McKenzie Moore and reserves Jalen Ragland and Justin Crosgile have been kicked out of the UTEP athletic program. All three players received an automatic one-year suspension and they all also lose a year of eligibility. Moore and Ragland are juniors and Crosgile is a senior, meaning they won't play for the Miners again.

These situations always crop up in the NCAA athletic field, bringing up the problem of the financial situation of athletes not being compensated for their play.
