Thieves in Mexico may die soon for stealing a truck, not because they were caught and the justice system is harsher across the border, but because the truck they stole was carrying cobalt-60, a highly radioactive material. The stolen truck was found abandoned in a field, but whoever stole it had already opened the container that held the waste, exposing themselves and putting their lives at risk. A physicist named Mardonio Jimenez told NBC News that the normal survival rate after exposure is two-three days (today is Thursday, the truck was stolen on a Monday, you do the math). Moral of this story: check for labels or a manifest before stealing trucks in Mexico.
