Artist Builds Graphite-Equipped Skateboard for Graffiti Project

Legendary skater Lance Mountain leaves his mark on a Detroit skatepark.

Renowned NYC-based artist Matthew Barney recently donated a piece of his artwork to benefit the Ride It Sculpture Skate Park, located along the East Davison Freeway in Detroit. Barney's piece, part of his "Drawing Restraint" series, is a skateboard that doubles as a drawing tool with a large piece of graphite attached to it's nose. Last Fall, Juxtapoz magazine along with Detroit-based non-profit organization, Power House Productions, and Barney brought skateboard legend Lance Mountain to take the board for a spin at the Detroit skate park.
