LIFE SPAN: 1988-1998
RISE TO POWER: Eagle was never really in power. Throughout its 10-year run, it was a brand without an identity. When Chrysler purchased AMC and turned it into the Eagle/Jeep brand, Chrysler simply threw an Eagle badge on existing AMC models. Later, through a deal with Mitsubishi, it was able to share platforms with the Japanese company, resulting in re-badged Mitsubishi Eclipses and 3000GTs.
DEATH KNELL: The Eagle brand seemed doomed from the get-go. It had no original models, there was no proper marketing, and its models were sold in the same showrooms as Jeep products, with salesmen and mechanics who had no expertise with the brand. It was all a big eff-up.
