It’s one thing for a multi-shoe pack to release, but multiple retro Air Jordans releasing on the same day is much less common. That was the exact scenario on March 24, 2007, when not only two, but three different Retro 3s released: Fire Reds, women’s Harbor Blues, and the Flips.

The most anticipated drop of the weekend was the Fire Reds, which were being retroed for the first time. Although many fans were disappointed in the quality of the Fire Reds, some gravitated to the higher quality materials of the Flips, which features a soft upper, and plush leather lining. The upgrade did come at a price. While the Fire Reds rang up at $125, the Flips hit for a $25 up charge. While sneakers weren’t extremely limited, they were harder to come across than the generally released Fire Reds.

The concept of “flipping” the elephant print from the heel and toe overlays to the entire upper returned in late 2011, for a blacked out version of the Flips.
