Adidas has enjoyed a major resurgence in popularity in recent years, and has sales numbers to back that up. A major part of that success has been thanks to the popularity of its Boost cushioning. The foam-based platform was introduced on the Energy Boost back in 2013, and has been incorporated into some of the brand's most popular silhouettes ever since, including the Ultra Boost, NMD, and even Kanye West's Yeezy line.

However, it's been consipciously absent from the signature line of one of Adidas' biggest basketball endorsers. Outside of an alternate Primeknit edition of the D Lillard 2, Damian Lillard's sneakers have featured Bounce for their impact protection. When questioned about this on Twitter recently, Lillard offered a brief explaination that got right to the point regarding it's pricing.

Lillard's most recent signature sneaker, the Adidas D Lillard 3, retails for $115. In comparison, James Harden's Adidas Harden Vol. 1, which does feature Boost, retails for $140.

However, Lillard recently offered Sole Collector a different explaination as to the lack of Boost in his shoes at Adidas' LVL3 event. He explained to Sole Collector that while likes both cushioning platforms, he feels Bounce is more natural. "It’s closer to what I’ve always played in than anything else is," he said. "Every time I’m in meetings about my shoes and how I want them to feel, I always talk about softer materials, and Bounce is really soft. Even if you pick up a shoe and just squeeze it – you can squeeze the shoe and that’s perfect for me. It’s right up my alley."
