Pop culture has always inspired creative designs when it comes to footwear but even more so with the growth of the sneaker culture over the last 20 years. In the mid 80's adidas created the ZX 500, and at the time it was a technologically advanced and biomechanically correct, long distance runner. About the same time that the ZX 500 was originally created, another form of today's pop culture was beginning to hit its growth spurt, video games.
Combining these two pop culture elements, adidas Originals has created a new version of the ZX 500 inspired by 80's video games. It comes in a black full grain and patent leather upper with multicolored accents on the midsole and outsole. As part of the adiGame Collection, it will also come with an 80's inspired video game, entitled ZX Runner. In the game you'll have the help of the ZX 500 avoiding thugs, collecting power-ups and jumping from rooftop to rooftop as the character DJ Zed.
