Half of the sneaker game is knowing what kicks are out when, and which shops have them. Our Shelf Space column looks at what shops around the country are stocking in a given week, and gives a quick glimpse into the mind of the buyer/manager/owner who put them there.

As we continue our mission of bringing you the insides of the best sneaker spots from around the U.S., we headed to one of our favorites — Premier, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The store owner, Eric Blanding, gave us a look at 10 of the newest sneakers currently sitting on the store shelves. Hit the thumbnails and arrows above to see his picks, and to read what he has to say about each one.

Roller Derby

Nike SB "Roller Derby" Dunk Low Premium, $125

Premier says: "Nike SB Quickstrikes and Shelf Space are pretty contradictory, seeing as how they only stick around for about an hour after the release. This collaboration with the "Made for Skate" crew is one of my favorite Dunk Lows. It takes inspiration from the original Roller Derby skateboards and incorporates an awesome mix of materials, including cracked leather and woodgrain embossed nubuck. Definitely another great creation from Nike SB."

Saucony

Bodega x Saucony Grid 9000, $110

Premier says: "Brought back from the Saucony vault, the Grid 9000 is a great retro running silhouette. This was another pack that was done with the guys over at Bodega in Boston and was executed extremely well. Materials consist of premium suede, nubuck, leather and a speckled sole. Also, a neoprene sock liner that is only stitched in on one side to provide easy entry. This is one of my favorite sneaker releases this year, and the best part is that they are extremely limited, so you won't see too many others rocking these."

Vans Denim Pack

Vans Half Cab and Era (Denim Pack), $65, $55

Premier says: "I think I like the thought of denim shoes more than I actually like wearing them but, regardless, these two are must-haves from Vans this holiday season. Both have a nice washed black/grey denim and the red hints really set them off, especially the red stitching and suede heel on the Era."

UNDFTD

UNDFTD x Puma Clyde Ripstop, $65

Premier says: "I've been a big fan of the Puma x Undefeated Clyde program and this ripstop collection is my favorite so far. Undefeated took the Clyde and added a nice, subtle military feel. I haven't seen too many sneakers with ripstop that I haven't liked and these Clydes are no exception."

Koston

Nike SB Eric Koston 1, $85

Premier says: "I have definitely worn the Koston more than any other shoe this year. Super simple, easy to wear, and there is no breaking-in process when it comes to skating. It's also equipped with a Nike Lunarlon running sole which gives it a lot of comfort for such a slim shoe. If you don't own a pair of these, you need to."

Ronan

adidas Skate Ronan, $70

Premier says: "It's no surprise that adidas has been extremely successful incorporating soccer silhouettes into skateboarding, starting with the Busenitz and this year introducing the Ronan. This neutral, lead colorway just came in and has been very well-received so far."

SB Paul Rodriguez

Nike SB Paul Rodriguez V, $90

Premier says: "This P-Rod 5 just rolled in our door last week and was a pleasant surprise when we opened the box. This shoe pops off the shelf with some extreme contrasting featuring an all-black suede upper and neon sole. As always, the P-Rod 5 has a built-in Lunarlon sole to provide you with extra comfort, with hardly any additional weight. Definitely a good addition to anyones daily sneaker rotation."

Vans Wool Pack

Vans Chukka 79 Pro (Wool Pack), $65

Premier says: "Who doesn't like Vans Chukka boots? As the leaves are changing, this wool pack is perfect for all your fall attire. Available in black or military green, they feature a suede toe, leather trim and a solid wool side panel. Simple, clean and, as always with Vans, the price will never break your billfold."

HUF

HUF Southern, $65

Premier says: "Something about this HUF Southern. The two shades of red contrast really well with the gum sole."

Duck Boot

Nike Air Force 1 Duck Boot, $165

Premier says: "It's always hard to find dope boots to battle the winter streets. Last year, Nike introduced the Air Force 1 Duck Boot and have brought it back again for this holiday season. They did a great job with the design and they are packed full of all the right materials to keep your feet toasty and dry. If you live where we live, these are a must."
