For yesterday's launch of the KD 9, Nike tapped Kevin Durant and designer Leo Chang to help unveil the sneaker in Austin, Texas.
Returning to the city where he made his mark as a Texas Longhorn nearly a decade ago, Durant spoke about Austin's unique culture, which was on display at the sneaker launch in the form of KD-inspired art.
"The motto is to 'keep Austin weird,' and that says it all. Everyone here just has a free spirit around them, and I think that allows them to explore who they are as individuals," Durant said of the city.
"I've always approached the signature process through getting to know the person first before putting pen to paper," Chang said, admitting that yesterday's event was the first time he's actually been in Austin with Durant.
