'Chinese New Year' Air Jordans Dropping Again

The release date and details for Nike's 2019 Chinese New Year collection featuring the Air Jordan 33, Air Max 90, Air Max 270, Air VaporMax, and more.

Now that we've seen the Chinese New Year-themed Air Jordan 12s, Air Max 98s, and Kyrie 5s, Nike has revealed the full 2019 collection, and it's far more expansive than originally expected.

In addition to the aforementioned models, the latest Chinese Zodiac-inspired range will include the Air Jordan 33, Air Max 90, Air Max 270, Air VaporMax, Blazer Low, Zoom Pegasus Turbo, and the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High. The Air Max 270, Zoom Pegasus Turbo, and Air Max 98s will be released in different men's and women's colorways.

While each shoe in the group combines all 12 Chinese Zodiac symbols in the form of geometric quilted and mosaic patterns, it's the men's and women's Air Max 98 options which take the most liberal approach. Each shoe takes a "What the" theme, blending elements from Nike's last 12 Chinese New Year sneakers for two eye-catching looks. The men's colorway combines pony hair and snakeskin textures with inspiration from styles including 2013's "Year of the Snake" Air Force 1, while the women's iteration lifts the iridescent material from the "Year of the Dragon" Air Force 1 from 2012.

Exact release dates for this collection have not been announced, but Nike says the range will drop throughout the month of January.

UPDATE (01/04): Jordan Brand's "Chinese New Year" collection has begun hitting Chinese retailers now and will see a second release in North America via SNKRS and select retailers on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
