Someone must have read our story about sneakers becoming commonplace at mosques, because one man just got caught with a handful of kicks that police say he lifted from a local place of worship.

A 38-year-old Malaysian IT specialist was recently caught with over a dozen pairs of stolen sneakers in the trunk of his Mercedes, according to The Star Online. After being nabbed red-handed by a security guard at the Masjid Wilayah mosque, police searched the suspect's car and uncovered the stolen sneakers, which they say were snatched over a two-hour period.

Despite being caught in the act, The Malay Mail reports that the suspect isn't accepting responsibility for the pairs found in his trunk: “He does not want to reveal where he stole the other 12 pairs of shoes, so we need more time to interrogate him," a police officer said. “We checked his house in Jalan Ipoh and there were no other shoes. We don’t know if he hid more stolen shoes elsewhere. We are also investigating if he has a shoe fetish.”

Well, it wouldn't be the first time that's happened
