One of the Barclays Premier League's top teams is ending its partnership with adidas earlier than expected.

Chelsea FC confirmed that it has mutually split from adidas, with the sponsorship set to culminate at the end of the next season on June 30, 2017. As noted by Sky News Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, this is six years earlier than the deal was supposed to end.

Solhekol adds that adidas thanked Chelsea for a "professional and successful collaboration," with the brand saying that the deal isn't ending due to Chelsea's recent struggles, but instead because it's looking to sponsor fewer teams moving forward.

Chelsea and adidas began their relationship in 2006, and in the decade since, it's amassed a number of honors including two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups.
