Continuing on the thread of inspiration that brought us the Midnight Blooms, UBIQ has announced the “Nightshade” ASICS GT-Cools to be released at the end of this month. This comes after a few weeks of teases and first look shots, but now we have UBIQ’s full look at the upcoming shoe.

The materials and colors are lifted directly from the family of plants, with shady greens and mushroom grey in nubuck and suede. The 3M on the stripes and under the perforated toe box can only be seen in the black of night. Like ASICS’ Gel Lyte III, the often overlooked GT-Cool features a split tongue for dynamic fit, while maintaining the look of a traditional tongue.

The word "Nighshade" comes from the Old English nihtscada which means “unrecorded night.” Like many poisons, if taken in small doses, they can have other effects. Some Nightshades have narcotic effects if taken in the right amounts, and as UBIQ says, "We get the same way when it comes to our own sneakers... We may or may not have been under the influence when we designed this, we can’t really remember."

The poison plant inspired kicks are set to drop next Saturday July 26, at UBIQ and through its website for $150.
