Sean Wotherspoon's Nike Air Max 1/97 was easily one of the most popular collaborations of 2018. The multi-colored corduroy hybrid still fetches a hefty going rate on the resale market today and the hype around the model has continued, thanks to the Round Two co-founder posting various photos of some sample pairs on his Instagram over the past few months.
Back in September 2018, the vintage connoisseur shared some shots of an all-blue Air Max 1/97 along with a caption declaring his excitement for the "second wave." For anyone holding out hope for a sequel to the vintage-inspired runner, Wotherspoon has confirmed to Complex Sneakers that the collaboration will not be receiving a second iteration after all.
"I’ve been done working with [Nike], at least on another SW collab, for a while. Still lots of good friends there. I help when asked, but being able to spread my wings again is the best feeling ever," Wotherspoon said.
Rumors about Wotherspoon's future work with Nike being stalled started back in October 2018 when he posted a photo rocking a pair of Adidas Yeezy 500s. Despite no Nike collabs on the horizon, Wotherspoon has been teasing an upcoming vintage sneaker project with Guess in recent weeks on social media.
