Nike continues to bring back past pairs from its Doernbecher Freestyle collection to celebrate its 15th anniversary. The latest pair getting a retro release is the Nike SB Dunk High from 2012.
This pair was designed by patient Finnigan Mooney who had undergone 13 heart surgeries. Now a junior in high school, Mooney received a pacemaker this year and is in good health.Â
The brightly-colored high-top is constructed of yellow and royal blue leather. Special details include a gold patent leather Swoosh outlined with jagged stitching, gold four-leaf clovers on each tongue tag, hand-drawn illustrations on each insole, and Mooney's thumb print on the outsole with a smiley face. Its main features are the bright red heart printed on each lateral side panel and "Thump Thump" written in red on each heel to represent a heartbeat.Â
Look for the Nike SB Dunk High "Doernbecher" to release on Friday, Feb. 22 via Nike SNKRS for $120. All proceeds will be donated to the Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.
