Why did Solebox decide to design a new store?
If it's not broke, don't fix it. But change is necessary to stay afloat in today's cut throat world of sneaker boutiques. So why did Solebox redesign its store? "It was time for a change. We had our 'old' store now for over five years, and the shop was too small for all the products we have in the store," Hikmet said.
Why make the store so futuristic?
Solebox's newest boutique design has been praised for exceeding people's expecations. So why was the shop made to look that way? "The idea is to make a step to the future of physical retail. Nowadays everything is happening 24/7," Hikmet said. "Just imagine: Someday there will be a sneaker shop where you can buy a new pair of kicks at 2 a.m. You only need your credit card and our Solebot. No delivery time, etc. Solebot is serving you 24/7."
What's it like to work with Solebot?
Solebox's new store design has one key feature: Solebot, a robot that works in the stockroom. This is what it's like to work with him. "It's fun. It seems I'm not growing up. But it is really fun to play with a robot. You can let him do everything you want. I'm feeling a bit like in 'The Big Bang Theory.'"
Solebox's latest collab was the Reebok Instapump Fury. What was the reception like?
"Germany is not really the biggest Fury country, but the Solebox Fury had a big demand here," Hikmet said. "We were sold out the day of release. Thank you to everybody who bought them."
What's the biggest difficulty of redesigning a store?
Putting together a new store is a tall task, and this is what challenged the Solebox team the most. "We had a great team who supported the building of the store. The biggest task was to get the Solebot in the store and working like we wanted it to work," Hikmet said. "But it's all done, and now we are happy to being in a new location, new store, a robot, and, of course, lots of shoes."
