These days, the Brooklyn Nets' Andrei Kirilenko is more known for his haircut (or being allowed to cheat on his wife) than anything else. And after this interview, well, he'll still only be known for that. Sneaker Watch had the opportunity to chat with Kirilenko to discuss the Brooklyn Nets and kicks, but the portion on kicks was pretty awkward to watch. When asked about what sneakers he wears off the court, Kirilenko said he tries to "stay off the sneakers" and prefers to go "barefoot." Wait. Did he really just say that?
It gets more interesting, though. When slyly asked the question one final time towards the end of the interview, Kirilenko rolled his eyes and eventually just showed off a pair of adidas runners he was wearing on the spot. While he may not be a sneakerhead, Kirilenko named teammate Joe Johnson, Nate Robinson, and Jarrett Jack as the NBA players who are sneaker collectors. Well, that type of knowledge must count for something, right?
