Nike's Releasing a Free Mercurial Superfly That Might Actually Be Easy to Cop

An on-foot look at the new Nike Free Mercurial Superfly in "Dark Grey."

Nike Free Mercurial Superfly "Dark Grey"

Nike's HTM line, made up of footwear heavyweights Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield, and Mark Parker, is always highlighted by extremely rare sneakers. In fact, it wasn't even until last year's new NikeLab initiative that HTM sneakers were finally made available on Nike's webstore, which offered the football boot-inspired Free Mercurial Superfly HTM.

Now, it looks like Nike's planning to take another step toward making once-exclusive sneakers more available. The Nike Free Mercurial Superfly will now come in a non-HTM version by way of an all-new "Dark Grey" colorway.

Based on the early on-foot look, the sneaker appears identical to its HTM-branded counterparts. It features a Flyknit and Flywire upper, a high-top profile, and a Free midsole. However, it's safe to guess that the "Dark Grey" colorway won't be branded with HTM on its heel.

Could the change also mean a lower price point? That would only make sense, but we'll have to wait to find out. Look for this colorway to release on January 22 through Nike Sportswear retailers, including Off the Hook in Canada.
