Michael Jordan’s son is again facing accusations that he backdoored sneakers from his Florida store Trophy Room in 2021, offering them to resellers rather than regular customers and potentially making millions in profit in the process. As more images emerged this week of the controversial Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 fiasco from last year, Marcus Jordan claimed on Twitter that the allegations about him backdooring the limited sneaker were false.

Y’all so annoying with this shit. This all cap 🧢
Y’all MFs too laughable at this point🤣 Go watch a documentary for the conspiracies on stay on that side🏆✨ https://t.co/xKfoKdA7hc

Jordan has consistently denied that he’s sold the limited edition shoes his store offers to resellers looking to make more profit off them on the secondary market. But multiple sources told Complex last year that his store sold a significant amount of its Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1s for around $1,000 a pair. Well ahead of the collab’s release, there were ample pairs on the resale market, corroborating the notions that Jordan had resold the shoes en masse.

More than a year after the original launch, purported new insight into the situation this week came from Twitter user @SneakerPhetish, who shared a series of screenshots from an anonymous source. The messages claim Marcus sold thousands of pairs of the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 to several resellers prior to launch for around $1,000 a pair, leaving the store with around only 1,000 pairs left for the general public. @King_Wally91 on Twitter also shared images of what appear to show hundreds of the limited collab being backdoored. Complex can’t independently confirm the legitimacy of the images in the tweets and the stories connected to them, but they were enough to prompt a reaction from Marcus online.

@SneakerPhetish here’s proof of when Marcus Backdoored to my plug. That 4th van you were talking about… well you see how packed it was. Approximately 250-300 pairs, I personally bought 25 pairs pic.twitter.com/aUh4XMWt1l

Marcus Jordan has been unable to escape the sneaker community’s perception of him as a reseller since the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 drop, and recent posts from both him and his store are still flooded with comments about him allegedly backdooring the aforementioned collab.

Allegations of Marcus backdooring the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 resurfaced this week when notorious sneaker reseller Benjamin Kickz shared a photo of his massive inventory of the recently released Union x Air Jordan 2, where he not-so-subtly hinted that the brands themselves may be to blame for allowing him to obtain so many pairs of the limited collabs.

At the time of writing, Marcus has not responded to Complex’s request for a statement. A spokesperson for Jordan Brand declined to comment.
