Adidas has long been building up the buzz around its collaboration with American artist Daniel Arsham, flooding social media feeds with all sorts of preamble only tangentially related to actual footwear. Fortunately that's come to a halt, with the brand unveiling Arsham's sneaker on Friday.
Releasing on July 22 for $180 is the Daniel Arsham x Adidas New York, a shoe that channels the artist's interest in archeology by dressing it in deteriorated canvas. This theme is explored further via an ultraviolet ink print on the midsole that reads "THE PAST IS PRESENT."
The sneaker's chalk white colorway is reminiscent of Arsham's past work, like his interiors for Ronnie Fieg's Kith stores, that casts everyday objects in plaster.
According to Adidas, this project will be highly limited.
