With MJ finishing up his Chicago career in the XIV, the Air Jordan XV would be the first official post-retirement model. Tinker Hatfield, who temporarily stepped away from the series after designing the model, pulled inspiration from an X-15 rocket plane. Looking to continue to the heritage of innovation, Tinker used a Kevlar upper, Pebax heel counter and Zoom Air. The inscription '23/6/15' on the heel represent's Michael's famous jersey number, championships won and the shoe model.

Jordan's absence from the game meant that the XV would mainly be showcased by athletes under the newly formed Jordan Brand. Ray Allen, Michael Finley, Mike Bibby and Eddie Jones were the primary players who rocked the model on court, along with friends of the brand like Reggie Miller.

Starting off a new week of the XX8 Days of Flight, the Jordan Brand unveils the XV in a special black and neon green make-up.
