Damian Lillard might be an elite hooper in the NBA, but he comes from humble beginnings and that's something he won't ever forget. Following releases like the "Legacy,""Wasatch Front" and "Roots" Adidas Dame 3s, the silhouette is returns again with a strong significance to Lillard's past — the Adidas Dame 3 "West Campus."
Connecting back to Lillard's AAU days, the Adidas Dame 3 "West Campus" draws inspiration from the gym at Berkley Adult School where his basketball team would practice. The off-white colorway represents the surrounding gym walls, while cargo and burgundy accents represent the wooden backboards, unfinished floors and aging bleachers.
"It was a rundown school, and we'd go practice there," said Lillard. "They had wooden backboards with black tape where the square should be. One net was white and the other was red, white and blue. It was always cold because the windows up top were broken out."
Despite not being a top of the line gym, Lillard worked tirelessly to perfect his craft there. "West Campus is where we practiced with Coach Young lifting those bricks," said Lillard. "It was an abandoned building, but they had a gym in there that we could use for free. It's just funny because that was normal for us. That's where it all started."
The Adidas Dame 3 "West Campus" is scheduled to release for $115 on March 31 on adidas.
