Nike has done a few different spin-offs of the classic Huarache. It makes sense to take an iconic models and try to innovate while giving it some new looks for the kids to spend their allowance on. Granted, most of Nike's efforts have been kinda less than inspired. But I'm willing to go on record here and say that the latest, the Huarache Utility, is actually good. So props to Nike on making it not terrible. The Huarache Utility has a chunkier sole, a slightly higher profile and more rugged lacing and yet, despite all that, it's thankfully not quite the swagless equivalent of a sneakerboot. It somehow defies that genre and almost becomes its own genre of footwear. I fuck with that. Are you going to go hiking in these? Who knows? Maybe you will. I don't know your life, man.
