We already know that Nike is bringing the Mag back this year complete with power laces, but thanks to the Youtube channel Tested, we're learning something game-changing about the original movie prop version from Back to the Future Part II.

The COO of movie collectibles retailer Prop Store, Brandon Alinger, recently gave Tested a tour of the storefront which included a brief discussion about the Mag. Alinger reveals that the pair on display, which was recently brought in for consignment, is what he calls a "walk around" pair.

According to Alinger, there were a few different variations of the prop Mag: a functional pair that could be worn normally, and a "special effects" version that was permanently affixed to a fake section of floor and allowed the crew to pull the laces tight, resulting in the "auto-lacing" magic we've come to know and love.

It's worth noting that this isn't a new revelation, especially for movie buffs, but to sneakerheads, this is pretty much the equivalent of telling a kid that Santa isn't real.
