New Balance takes its Made in USA initiative to another level with the commemorative "Great American Novels" collection. Inspired by the works of renowned authors, New Balance outfits each sneaker based on themes and muses from distinguished literary works. For the Kicks of the Day, we look at the New Balance 998 "Moby Dick."

This signature New Balance runner is a nod to Herman Melville's story of Captain Ahab's attempt to capture the legendary sperm whale, Moby Dick. The image of the sea is represented on the 998's blue leather and mesh paneling—two-tone blue on the toebox and heel and a dark navy on the logo and midsole. A premium grey suede, along with contrasting white accents on the interior lining and Abzorb midsole, embody the appearance of the behemoth that is Moby Dick. Coupled with premium materials and American-made quality, the 998 perfectly represents Melville's work.

You can pick up the New Balance 998 "Moby Dick" on for $170. Plenty of sizes are still in stock.
