It's all Layun's fault. Words the Mexican star is all too familiar with hearing, has now flipped the negative saying and is using it as motivation for the World Cup.

After years of abuse on social media, Miguel Layun is now wearing custom Puma boots with the #TodoEsCulpaDeLayun saying embroidered along them to serve as a reminder. The saying was often trending following his America games as fans questioned his place playing for both the Mexican national team and club America. However, Layun won over some of his critics recently as he scored the final penalty in the shoot-out against Cruz Azul to win league-title. Layun has also improved performance on the international stage and the saying quickly turned from spiteful words, to a long lasting joke that is now being used to help fuel him and the Mexican national team as they try to win their first World Cup in their countries history.

Check out Layun and the Mexican national team as they kick off World Cup play in Group A against Cameroon.
