These Nike Air Max 1s Look Like They Were Made 27 Years Ago

Are these "New Vintage" or "Vintage New"?

The Nike Air Max 1 is one of the most iconic sneakers in history – with little known design inspiration. The OG red colorway has a way of popping up from time to time in its original conceit or new interpretations.  On March 26 we’ll see a release of the latest iteration of the most classic of shoes.

The AM1 was originally released March 26, 1987. Here we are 27 years later and Nike is celebrating the event with an AM1 to mark the original release.

The original red colorway has been given a vintage treatment with slightly yellowed mesh, and a heavily yellowed midsole. You get all of the aging without any of the wear! The new addition to the sneaker is the tongue tab with “3.26” on them: in deference to the original release date.

If you’re really into sneakers that look older than you straight out of the box, be sure to keep your ear to the ground around March 26 to find a retailer near you.
