Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He is a seasoned vet who loves playing at the US Open—he won five championships here on the trot. But, things come to an end. Spaniard Tommy Robredo pulled the rug from under Federer's feet yesterday, winning 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-4, and dropping the former number 1 out the tournament at the earliest stage in a decade.
Federer didn’t look like the champion that we know—he had 43 unforced errors. "I kind of feel like I beat myself," Federer said, "without taking any credit away from Tommy. Clearly he was making sure he was making many balls. It was up to me to make the difference and I couldn't. I kind of self-destructed, which is very disappointing, especially on a quicker court.”
