Ahead of last night’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, the homies over at SoleCollector begged the question: “Will Manu Ginobili and Danny Green switch out of their Nike LeBron sneakers for the Finals?” After all, they’re playing against the guy who said shoes were created for to begin with.

Well, after watching Ginobili and Green tear into the Miami D from beyond the arch in their Nike LeBron X’s and Zoom Soldier VI respectively in route to a win, it looks like the boys will be sticking with their sneakers. Guess that just means LeBron will have to one-up the Spurs swingmen. Perhaps a reappearance of the LeBron XI is in order?

In any case, there’s a bigger point to be made here. Which is: would you change shoes if you were playing against a signature athlete like LeBron? Based off this season alone, the consensus in the NBA seems to be that of the “play on” variety. All season, players across the league have laced up against signature athletes. Take a trip over to SoleCollector to see some notable examples.
