Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About Hair Loss From Alopecia

Jada Pinkett Smith took to Instagram to share an update about how she has been dealing with her alopecia, which she first addressed back in 2018.

Jada Pinkett Smith is all about honesty, and in a recent Instagram post, she opened up about how she’s dealt with her alopecia and subsequent hair loss.

In the video above, Pinkett Smith shows a new mark on her head, and says she plans to make the best of it.

“Now at this point, I can only laugh,” Pinkett Smith said as she laughs and points at a new line that’s visible across her scalp. “Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here.”

In the caption for the post, Pinkett Smith talked about how she plans on embracing her hair loss and becoming friends with her alopecia.

“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something😜
Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period,” the Red Table Talk host wrote.

As cited by ET Online, Pinkett Smith first addressed her alopecia in 2018, talking about what it was like when she first had to deal with being involuntarily bald.

“It was terrifying when it first started,” Jada shared. “I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?’”

Pinkett Smith also shared another post in July about how her daughter Willow inspired her to embrace her new bald look and cut all her hair off amidst her battle with alopecia.

“Willow made me do it because it was time to let go BUT … my 50’s are bout to be Divinely lit with this shed❣️😜” the actress captioned her post.

Fast forward a few months later, and it looks like Pinkett Smith is fully embracing her new look.
