There’s a Petition for Apple to Make Baby Yoda an Emoji

A fair request.

This is the way.

Because Baby Yoda simply can't refrain from dominating the pop culture discourse these days, his meme-assisted omnipresence has now extended its reach into the reliably bizarre world of low-stakes petitions.

Indeed, Change.org is now the home of a new "Make Baby Yoda an Emoji" petition that may very well have already surpassed its goal of 2,500 signatures by the time this article is published.

"I think Baby Yoda should be an emoji," petition starter Travis Bramble, whose ultimate goal is to get this request into Apple's hands, explained. "He stole our hearts and now I want him to steal our keyboard space. Your friend shares a pic of her newborn baby? Respond with a cute little Baby Yoda emoji to show that you think her little rascal is cute beyond words. You're sick and your mom texts you 'Do you want some soup?' Respond back with a cute little Baby Yoda to show her that your thirst for soup is insatiable. Join me [in] this movement and let your voices be heard. WE WANT BABY YODA EMOJI!!!"

The petition, started five days ago, is an obvious hit.

The Mandalorian, the Disney+ series that gave us Baby Yoda's debut, is currently in the middle of its eight-episode inaugural season. A second one has already been announced. Since its premiere in November, the series has given Star Wars weekly doses of episodic memes and general Baby Yoda appreciation posts. In short, the show—as expected—is a massive fucking success for the newly launched streaming platform.
