Not so fast. Despite the excitement surrounding what appeared to be the marriage of longtime partners Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth in Las Vegas Monday, Clark County officials have now said records reveal "no marriage license" exists. "A commitment ceremony was performed," the official Clark County Twitter account confirmed early Wednesday:
But before anyone declares something bold like "love is dead!" or some other nonsense, a commitment ceremony is arguably the same thing as a marriage, just without all the paperwork or whatever. TMZ was the first to break the news of LaBeouf and Goth's ceremony, portions of which were live-streamed by the publication from Viva Las Vegas.
LaBeouf and Goth reportedly chose an Elvis x Hawaiian theme for the ceremony, with Goth even catching a ride with an awesome fake Elvis in an equally awesome pink Cadillac en route to the ceremony. The couple first met on the set of Lars von Trier's 2013 film Nymphomaniac, with Goth later spotted rocking an apparent engagement ring in March of this year.
