A crew member on the set of the Tom Hanks-starring Mister Rogers biopic is dead after falling from a balcony.

Sound mixer James Emswiller, 61, "suffered an apparent medical emergency" before falling two stories on the set of You Are My Friend in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania Thursday night, the Associated Press reported. The fall, per local authorities, occurred around 7:30 p.m., at which point Emswiller was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

At the time of the incident, local outlet WPXIreports that Emswiller was taking a smoke break between scenes when others on the set "heard a noise" and discovered he had fallen from the balcony. Shooting ceased while authorities investigated the incident. At the time of this writing, Sony Pictures had not shared an official statement regarding the incident.

Emswiller is an industry veteran. His IMDb page lists decades of crew credits including, Adventureland, Jack Reacher, The Fault in Our Stars, Foxcatcher, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, and Outsiders. His work on the HBO original Bessie resulted in an Emmy win.
