Many have speculated on how, exactly, Amazon's original series Transparent will move forward following the exit of Jeffrey Tambor following allegations of his sexual misconduct on-set. In a new interview, star Jay Duplass spoke on the behind-the-scenes discussions surrounding the future of the series, which premiered its fourth season in 2017.
"We all want it to continue," Duplass told the Daily Beast. "I think right now where Jill [Soloway] is at is just trying to figure out what that looks like. It's interesting. To some people, it seems impossible without Maura. But I don't know." From a creative standpoint, Duplass added, the series doesn't feel like it's a dead end without Tambor's take on Maura.
Duplass also commended Soloway, the show's creator, and has "huge confidence" she'll figure out the right way forward. “Jill’s been under so much pressure," he said, admitting the team is "just emotionally processing the implosion of our family of the people who make Transparent. So it’s been an incredibly traumatic time.”
Tambor's exit wasn't official until this February, when Deadlinereported that the plug on his involvement with future seasons had been pulled following the completion of Amazon's investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against the actor. Previously, in his own statement in November, Tambor had said he didn't "see how' he could come back for more episodes because of what he characterized as a "politicized atmosphere" on the set. Tambor has also denied the allegations.
