Who's That Girl? Meet "New Girl" Actress Hannah Simone

If you and your roommates have been tuning into New Girl every Tuesday like the rest of the world, you've noticed the show's really attractive model, a.k.a. Jess's best friend CeCe. Rather than continuing to call her "the hot chick," we decided it was time to get to know the Indian actress behind the character, Hannah Simone. Hannah was born in the United Kingdom, but she spent most of her childhood living in Calgary, Alberta. From the time she was seven until she was 10, she lived in Saudi Arabia, then her family moved through three continents. Later, she lived in Greece, India, back to Canada, and finally L.A. She's said, “The best place to live is where you are right now.”

When Hannah was 16, she moved to New Delhi, where she attended an American Embassy school. There, she helped to organize a benefit concert for women and children with AIDS. So, at 16, Hannah was pretty much on her way to a Nobel Prize. What were we doing at 16? Failing math class.

Here are some fun facts: Cyprus is home to some of the oldest wells in the world, the possible starting location of feline domestication, and the first place to truly appreciate Hannah Simone’s beauty and encourage her search for the limelight. At age 13, she began working as a fashion model and was featured on the cover of one Cyprus’ leading fashion publications.

As if your resume wasn’t already depressing enough, compare it to Simone’s. She moved back to the UK to assume a position for the United Nations as a human rights and refugees officer. As part of her duties, she helped create cultural awareness programs for the Model UN’s participants, educating them on the politics and cultures in other countries.

While pursuing her degree in Radio and Television Arts, Hannah was the host of her own radio show at Ryerson University. Clearly it wasn’t like your college’s radio show: two dudes who had a bunch of records and a hygiene problem. We’re grateful that she realized she has a face for the screen and didn’t deny her fans by sticking with radio productions.

Her first major acting gig was on the critically acclaimed, though never watched Kevin Hill. The show was ultimately canceled due to its low ratings. Personally, we would’ve tuned in more if Hannah was more than just a guest star for an episode.

As the host, Hannah introduced the contestants to real life representations of what’s happening in the top video games of the day. On one episode, she spanked guest star, Kelly Hu, after a slip of the tongue. Weirdly, we wish we could have been in his place.

After Hannah graduated from college she became the host for Space for Living on Canada’s own Home and Gardening network. On the show, she would meet homeowners from around the world and show them how to redecorate within their needs and budget. Not only were her interviews of the different families impressive, but so were her suggestions. We’d just point everyone to Ikea.

Hannah admits that she doesn’t really date. The people who end up being her LTR’s are the people she’s been friends with for a while. If you don’t think you could get out of her friend zone (or even in it, to begin with), she did say: “If someone wants to take me on a date? I don't know if I'd say no.” Now is your chance. Why are Canadians so polite? Because they know they have the hotter VJs on their music channel. Hannah hosted The New Music and was a correspondent for Much News Weekly. Thanks to the channel, Simone developed her on-screen personality and showed off her wits with some of music’s top stars.
