Batter Up! Meet the Cast of "Baseball Wives"

It seems like every possible kind of wife is getting a reality series. We've watched housewives from everywhere, mob wives, rap wives, and basketball wives, to name a few, and now VH1 is giving us Baseball Wives, which premieres tonight at 9 p.m. and follows the lives of women who are or once were married to baseball players.

Judging by the cast, the show is going to be chock full of drama. Plus, it looks somewhat original, considering that there are only two blondes in a cast of six women and the show isn't set in New Jersey! Also, this is the same network that brought us Basketball Wives. You gotta have faith.

Though only three of the six women are currently married to baseball players, the women are still each well-versed at living the baseball wife life in their own way. Before stepping up to the plate, wedo a little advance study of the cast so you know who you'll be facing. Batter up!

Anna, the wife of former Major League Baseball pitcher Kris Benson, was named "Baseball's Hottest Wife" by FHM Magazine in 2004, so she's obviously a very welcome addition to the cast of this newbie series. She and Kris have been together for 12 years now, and though that seems lengthy in the world of entertainment and sports, the marriage hasn't been without its bumps in the road.

Anna was seen as a bit of a curse to her baller husband; the New York Times said that "in her one year in New York [the 2004-2005 season], Anna Benson drove the Mets to distraction." Furthermore, after Kris was traded by the Mets to Baltimore, Kris reportedly blamed Anna. Ouch. The general manager of the Mets disputed this, claiming it was just a baseball trade, but the words may have already done their damage by that point—Anna briefly filed for divorce from Kris in 2006, citing an "irretrievably broken marriage," before they patched things up.

Prior to marrying Kris, Anna dropped out of high school during her sophomore year, had her first child at 17, and began dancing in Atlanta strip clubs for cash. She's also known for being outspoken, which will take her awfully far in the world of reality TV. In a 2004 interview with Howard Stern, who has the amazing ability to get people to say literally anything, Anna famously proclaimed that if Kris were to ever cheat on her, she'd sleep with everyone on her husband's team to get revenge.

A welcome addition to the cast indeed.
