If you’re a Wii U owning Assassin’s Creed fan, you may be in for a disappointment, as Ubisoft currently has no plans to bring any of the new title’s DLC content to Nintendo’s flux-gen console.
After news for the Black Flag’s season pass hit earlier this week, GameReactor decided to follow-up with the French publisher to see if the absence of any mention of the Wii U version of the game was an oversight – it’s not. This news shouldn’t necessarily come as a shock.
It’s likely that it’s just a cost-saving measure – a port of the game would make sense to maximize profits, but the added dev time to also port all the game’s additional content would theoretically be a waste of resources for a console with a comparatively small user base as the Wii U has. (It could also be a direct response to the sales of Assassin’s Creed III DLC for the console.)
It seems unlikely that Ubisoft will yet outright abandon Nintendo’s newest console, but this sort of bare minimum approach may continue to be the norm.
Then again, the company has made it clear the Wii U edition of Watch Dogs will in fact perform in a stopgap somewhere between current-gen and next-gen. Only time will tell.
