Cute girls are the only thing worth showing up to class for. Plus, let's be real, after your third lecture of the day, the dime in the third row is the only thing keeping you awake in Intermediate Macroeconomics.

Instead of gawking from a distance, make the most of the environment to kick your most effective game yet. Take notes, this is our guide on How to Pick Up A Girl During Class.

Choose Your Seat Wisely

Laying the groundwork happens on the first day of class. Scan the class for the flyest girl, and sit next to her; not on top of her (let a girl live!), but close enough to make comfortable conversation.

This works for several reasons: For one, she'll be aware you exist. Which, in a lecture hall with 100 sardined students, is a solid start. Your proximity will also allow for natural conversation (shouting across the room doesn't quite work the same way) on a daily basis.

Bonus: When the professor asks the class to pair up with a partner, she'll automatically look to her left or right. One-on-one time, effortlessly secured!

Be Vocal During Class

College is all about forming intelligent opinions, and likewise, the key to dating (smart, literate) women in college is expressing those opinions. Participate in class discussions, and you'll stand out from your less articulate competition.

Strike a balance balance between being a smarmy conversation hog and being the clueless guy who attempts to enter the discussion without even doing the reading. The key here is to be vocal and share some choice insights; not to be the guy dominating every discussion with his hand perpetually raised. That way, when she's unclear about Veblen's theory of conspicuous consumption, you'll be the guy she goes to for clarity.

Become Her Study Buddy

Now that you've established yourself as her go-to, reasonably intelligent guy, you can casually offer your services as a study buddy. Ask her about how she fared on a particularly tough test, and then use her barely-passing-score as a segue into offering to help her study. Yes, this can work vice-versa, but not as well. The draw here is that you have something to offer.

If she agrees, study your ass off for that study session. Yes, before, so you'll actually be helpful. When she aces the midterm with your assistance, she'll have you to thank, and go out for celebratory beers with. Win!

Plant Seeds

Don't have the misled idea that you'll come out of nowhere and throw her over your shoulder without protest. The path to asking her out should be gradually paved with occasional quips about the lame professor and a daily rapport (read: complaints) about the classwork. If one of you misses class, you can share notes. If a lecture is particularly slow, you can write back and forth to one another on a piece of loose-leaf paper. The idea here is to build a friendship free from expectations of any kind. Keep it casual and no-pressure.

Your friendly banter will lead to asking one another about your weekend plans, and after a few weeks of this, you can mention a party you're going to and say that she should stop by. Try this one week into class and you're the creep trying to hit it. Try it after a month of solid rapport, and you're the cool guy in class who finally asked her to hang out. See the difference?

Don't Be That Guy Taking A Women's Literature Class

Listen, we understand how tempting it is to be the only guy in a class or, better yet, a lecture hall of all women. There is zero competition, and you're the dopest dude in class by default—we see the appeal. But unless you're genuinely interested in women's studies, Virginia Woolf, and analyzing the the Vagina Monologues, you should reconsider your plan of action.

If you're not one of those guys (and chances are, you aren't), girls will immediately see through your feminist facade, and peg you for the sex-starved, insecure mongrel you are. You don't need to be the last man on Earth in class to kick it. You're better than that. Brush up on your game, and take a liberal arts class you're actually interested in. There will be women there (and yes, men, too) but you can handle a challenge, can't you?
