Radi Kaiof, left crippled by his service as an Israeli paratrooper, has been confined to a wheelchair for over 20 years. But now, thanks to a new device called ReWalk, Kaiof has a chance to once again stand on his own two feet.
The device, a sort of battery-powered robotic exoskeleton, is made by Argo Medical Technologies and allows people who have been paralyzed from the waist down to stand and walk. The apparatus fits on the sides of the users legs and powers their movements with a built in motor. A sensor keeps them balanced, while the ReWalk gets juice from an 8-hour battery held in a backpack.
See the cyborg action in the video above. The ReWalk currently costs about $150,000, but it's easy to see that price go down as more and competing devices get developed and introduced.
