The launch of a new generation of consoles always feels like a monumental event. The Xbox One is releasing this month, and sure enough our panties are twisted tightly in a bunch, and they won't unravel until the console is in our living rooms.
But we remember feeling exactly the same when the Xbox 360 launched all those years ago. Back then the launch games were miles ahead of what we were playing on the original Xbox, and getting the new console was a no-brainer.
These days, though, the technology gap is so small that it's getting harder to spot the differences between older and next-gen titles. Many upcoming games will launch simultaneously for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. In some, the differences will be like night and day; others will be more difficult to differentiate.
At a recent Xbox One showcase event in San Francisco we sat down with the developers of several games that are launching on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 to ask them exactly how they're taking advantage of Microsoft's new hardware. Some of their answers might surprise you.
