Netflix has recently announced a new addition to their growing number of true-crime shows.
According toThe Hollywood Reporter,Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes will be a four-part docuseries examining the life of serial killer Ted Bundy, who, after admitting to killing 30 women during the 1970s, was executed for his crimes. In addition to the actual murders, the show will also cover the large media response to the case (he captivated the hearts of many women across the country due to his looks), his in-court marriage to Carole Ann Boone (who testified on his behalf) and unreleased interviews with the killer during his time on death row in Florida.
The project is set to premiere Jan. 29, 2019, exactly 30 years after the infamous killer was executed. It will be directed by filmmaker Joe Berlinger, who has directed and produced several non-fiction works including the Emmy award-winning Paradise Lost. In addition to this project, Berlinger is working on a separate film titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which also focuses on the life of Bundy. The latter project stars Zac Efron as the infamous murderer.
Conversations is looking to become another strong addition to a list of compelling documentaries on Netflix. The true-crime niche specifically is growing in popularity on the streaming giant, and this addition of the Ted Bundy project will add to Netflix's catalog of the genre, which includes Making a Murder Part 2, which was the second most binged-watched show on Netflix in 2018.
