"Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn" is Real! Crowdfunding New Fighting Game (Video)

"Shaq-Fu returns and this time we won't FU it up!"

The long-rumored sequel to Shaq-Fu, the much-loved but really, really bad fighting game is real and being crowdfunded right now to be resurrected as Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn.

In a “random act of Shaqness” basketball star and avid gamer Shaquille O'Neal has partnered with developer Big Deez Productions which says it has built a team of pros who've worked on games like Halo, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Alan Wake, Spec Ops: The Line, Battlefield, Killzone, Max Payne, Duke Nukem and other big franchises.

Here's a bit more about the team who want to make the new Shaq ass-kicker.

Shaquille O'Neal doesn't want his legacy to be marred by the 1994 original, so A Legend Reborn will share only a name in its similarities to the first. The developers freely admits that the original Shaq Fu was terrible, so this time around Shaq is putting his own money in the project and it better come out right or somebody is going to get a size 22 in the ass.

This time around the game is going to be a beat-em' up where players take up the role of Shaq and battle “huge” numbers of enemies using an “intricately designed combo system” instead of a straight up fighter-clone.

Check out the funding page here on Indiegogo which offers perks such as motion capturing your own move into the game, signed Shaq-Fu posters, record your own in-game voice-over, even get music lessons from Allman Brothers Band keyboardist – and soundtrack creator - Steve Militz over Skype. What!?
