The Mist, the 2007 film adaptation of Stephen King's novella, has one of the most harrowing endings in recent horror history. I remember seeing that movie in theaters eight years ago and totally hating it, but that ending is something I think about quite often—which probably speaks volumes about King's storytelling ability. But turns out that wasn't really the end after all.
Now The Weinstein Company's Dimension Television is developing The Mist as a TV series (with King's approval) penned by writer Christian Torpe (creator of the Danish series Rita). For those who have already seen the movie and don't want to rewatch it on the small screen, don't fret. The show will explore an original story based off the same premise—an ominous mist that spreads across town and brings on creepy crawly monsters, as well as demons of the psychological kind. "The terror and drama in Stephen King’s novella are so vast that we felt serialized television is the best place to explore them in greater depth," Bob Weinstein told Deadline.
Will we see more of these terrifying Jack Skellington-looking spiders, though?
