Intro
If you knew the exact date and time when a catastrophic, extinction-level event would snuff out life on Earth, how would you spend your final moments? That's the question posed in writer-director Lorene Scafaria's wonderful dramedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which hits theaters Friday.
Steve Carell plays Dodge, a man whose unhappy wife leaves him the moment it's announced that an asteroid will hit Earth and wipe out mankind. Feeling lonely and unloved, he sets out on a road trip, accompanied by his attractive neighbor, Penny (Keira Knightley), to reconnect with his high school girlfriend—the "one who got away"—and hopefully die in an ecstatic, amorous embrace.
Sounds like an awfully good plan, and it got us thinking about the beautiful actresses in end-of-days movies who would be great company heading into the great unknown.
