Violent Crime Has Decreased in NYC This Year

NYPD data shows that violent crime has dropped in New York City during the year's first quarter. Shootings have decrease by 24 percent so far, and homicides have dropped by 30 percent as compared to the same time last year.

According to statistics, the bulk of the city's 212 shootings took place in East Flatbush and Brownsville, with 13 occuring in each neighborhood. Bedford-Stuyvesant had the next highest with 12. Also, there were 66 recorded homicides in the city by Apr. 1 and compared to 94 at the same time last year.
